Question: Is there a date stamp on tyres?

To help identify the age of your tyres, each one is imprinted with a coded date which tells you when that tyre was manufactured. The four-digit tyre age code is usually located in a window on the tyre sidewall.

Are 5 year old tyres safe?

Tyres are considered to be “new” and fit for retail up to 5 years from the date of production. When in use, it is recommended that tyres are replaced when they reach 7 - 10 years old, (6 years in the case of caravans or trailers).

Are cheap tyres a false economy?

If you need to change your tyres quickly, perhaps because the tread has worn down or you have suffered a puncture, but you are strapped for cash then budget tyres are good to tide you over. However, for everyday use it can be a bit of a false economy to turn to budget tyres.
