When you visit a clinic for polysomnography2, you will be assigned a room to yourself. Before bedtime, a technologist glues or tapes painless sensors to your head and body that will record information. The sleep test ends when you wake up in the morning and have the sensors removed.

What if I cant sleep during a home sleep study?
If you absolutely cant sleep during your study, you may be able to take a sleeping pill. This is one of the questions to ask ahead of time. Unless you take a prescription sleep aid regularly, youll be able to use a light over the counter medication like melatonin or Benadryl.
