Can you ask to meet the pilot?
Youre welcome to check out the cockpit - just ask cabin crew. These days, most of us think the cockpit is out of bounds - but you can have a proper look if you ask nicely. If its too busy, the cabin crew will just tell you - theres no harm in asking. The pilots will be more than happy to answer any questions.
Do flight attendants get to choose where they go?
Flight attendants submit their monthly scheduling choices in a process called bidding, and the more seniority they have, the more theyre able to determine which routes they fly and days they get to take off.
Is there a gun in the cockpit?
Thousands of US airline pilots carry guns in the cockpit. Seventeen years ago, in the space of 74 minutes, four American planes were hijacked. The date was 11 September 2001. A year later, the Arming Pilots Against Terrorism Act was passed, allowing US pilots - working for US airlines - to carry guns in the cockpit.
Is there a cop on every flight?
There are not enough air marshals to cover every flight, so their assignments are kept secret. Although their exact numbers are kept classified, airline insiders estimate that only five percent of U.S. flights have an air marshal on board.
