Question: Is it unhealthy to be celibate?

Having sex is good for you. Humans were meant to have sex. But just because sex is good for you doesnt mean that abstaining from sex is bad for you. With the exception of obvious conditions like vaginal atrophy that are directly related to sexual abstinence, no studies directly link celibacy to poor overall health.

Is male abstinence unhealthy?

Abstinence, unlike not eating, doesnt physically damage you, at least not directly. “Its not a health crisis if you dont,” Debra Herbenick, a research scientist and professor at Indiana University Bloomington School of Public Health, says. “No one is going to say that abstinence for six months is going to hurt you.”

Can you be celibate for life?

Its typically limited to a specific period of time, such as until marriage. Celibacy is a vow to remain abstinent over an extended period of time. For some, this may mean their entire life.
