Fishing tackle is the equipment used by anglers when fishing. Almost any equipment or gear used for fishing can be called fishing tackle. Some examples are hooks, lines, sinkers, floats, rods, reels, baits, lures, spears, nets, gaffs, traps, waders and tackle boxes.
What tackle to use for what fish?
Live (or natural) baits are anything alive or previously alive that you use to catch fish. Some of the best freshwater fishing bait include worms, leeches, minnows, crayfish, crickets and grasshoppers. Select good saltwater baits including sea worms, eels, crabs, shrimp, strips of squid, and cut-up pieces of fish.
How much is fishing rod?
Fishing rods can vary in price from around $20 to hundreds of dollars. If youre just starting out, Id recommend that you stick to the lower end of the price range and look for combos. Combos will include the rod and reel for a better price than buying each part separately.
Do I need a swivel when fishing?
Most lures, such as a crankbait, will not twist on the retrieve, so a swivel is not required. So if you are fishing for a species that tends to twist the line, the best bet is to use a swivel. The steel leader with a swivel is the best choice when pursuing fish with sharp teeth.
