How many hours does a PhD take?
The answer depends on the path you choose. The degree requires anywhere from 60 to 120 semester credit hours (or, approximately 20-40 college classes). Most Ph. D.s require the full 120 hours, while most applied doctorates are closer to the lower end of that spectrum.
Are grad student instructors professors?

Do PhD students get paid?
PhD students earn between $15,000 and $30,000 a year depending on their institution, field of study, and location. American PhD students are usually only paid for nine months of the year but many programs offer summer funding opportunities. A PhD funding package will also include a full or partial tuition waiver.
