The 1970s is really the decade when dating as we know it started to appear and progress. Men were the ones to ask a girl out for a date, men were the ones to pay, to provide the car, to walk her home. Men asked their women to marry them and many women chose to take care of the houses after the marriage.

What was dating like in the 1980s?

They only had use of a house phone that was held up on the wall and had a long curling cord. This prevented privacy and led to most interactions being at school. There were no such things as cell phones at this point.
