Sexual relationships between coaches and student-athletes have become a serious problem. NCAA member institutions must unambiguously and effectively prohibit such relationships to ensure that sport programs offer a safe and empowering experience for all student-athletes.
Is it illegal for professors to date students?
At many schools, there are no formal rules about professors dating students. It is discouraged, but not prohibited. For most educators, there is an unwritten rule that getting involved with students is a bad idea. It is usually suggested that no professor should date a student in his class.
For most sports, coaches can begin reaching out to athletes starting June 15 after sophomore year or September 1 of their junior year of high school. More specifically, coach contact depends on your sport, age, division level and the type of communication.
